Robert E. Lee (January 19, 1807 - October 12, 1870)
Role in the War: He was one of the first five generals for the confederate army. He commanded all of Virginia’s forces.
Contributions to History: He contributed to history by winning most of his battles during his time as a General, giving the Confederates a fighting chance. Pre-War: He was a military engineer. He also fought in the Mexican--American War, which gave him the Colonel military rank. Post-War: He became the President of Washington College and served as the President till his death on October 12, 1870. |
