There Were Many New Weapons And Technology Made During The Civil War. Because Of This There Were Way More Causalities And Was A Very Deadly War. The Odds Of Getting Injured Or Killed In The War Was Worse Than 1 In 2. Because Of All The New Technological Advances The Civil War Was Called The First Modern War. Some Of The New Technology That Was Used In The Civil War Was:
Cannons
Cannons Were Made To Do Many Thing, Some Cannons Were Made To Take Out People, Depending On How High The Cannon Was Angled It Would Determine On When It Would Be Used If The Cannon Had A High Angle (Pointed More Into The Air) Then The Cannon Would Be Used To Shoot Over Walls Or Into Trenches, If The Cannon Was Angled Low Then The Cannon Would Be Used In Large Fields. Now Some Cannons Would Be Used To Destroy Walls Those Cannons Would More Likely Have A Bigger Cannon Ball.

The Minié Ball Was An Bullet Used A Lot In The Civil War. The Minié Ball Was Very Deadly, It Was A Iron Bullet With A Cylinder Shape With A Spinning Indent Around The Bullet Make The Bullet Able To Travel Farther Than A Normal Bullet At The Time. When The Bullet Was Fired It Would Expand And When It Would Hit Its Target It Would Leave A Devastating Wound. The Minié Ball Was Able To Brake Bone But The Bullet Wouldn't Pass Through So There Would Be A Bullet Inside Of The Victim.

Ironclad Ships Were Ships Covered In Iron So The Hull Could Be More Resistant To Bullets. There Weren't Many Battle With Ironclad Ships In The Civil War But They Were Very Powerful. Ironclad Ships Usually Had Cannons And Rotating Turrets On Them. North America Saw That Ironclad Ships Were Better Than Unarmored Ships So The Civil War Was The Last Time The U.S Would Use Unarmored Ships.
